It is essential to everyday life, critical to science, technology and engineering, and necessary for financial literacy and most forms of employment. A high quality mathematics education is vital.

The Maths Department aims to ensure that all pupils:
Decisions about progression will be based on the security of pupils’ understanding and their readiness to progress to the next stage. Pupils who grasp concepts rapidly will be challenged through being offered rich and sophisticated problems. Those who are not sufficiently fluent will consolidate their understanding before moving on. Pupils are taught in ability groups in all Years.

There are three written papers. Each paper (one non calculator and two with calculator) will take 1 hour 30 minutes each.
