Welcome!

Thank you for your interest in our school.  South Charnwood is a comprehensive High School which admits pupils of all abilities from 10—14 years of age (Years 6, 7, 8 and 9).  It is a popular and expanding school with 639 pupils on roll at present.  The School is situated in twenty acres of open countryside and serves the nearby villages of Markfield, Thornton and Stanton-under-Bardon, as well as Leicester Forest East. South Charnwood could justifiably be called a ‘family’ school since it has educated several generations of many local families.

Dear Parents/Carers
As we look forward to the highest temperatures so far this year, it looks as though summer may have arrived (at least for the next few days). It is always a relief when the good weather means the field can be open to pupils at lunchtime and breaktime. In the vast majority of cases this area is treated with respect and litter is minimal. However,
can I ask parents to emphasise to their children the necessity of using the litter bins which are provided. There is always one near by! Of course, this also means that the picnic area is open and this often leads to an increase in the number of pupils bringing in packed lunches. This can lead to an increase in litter if pupils are not careful.
