Admissions

Thank you for your interest in our school.  South Charnwood is an academy High School which now admits pupils of all abilities from 11-16 years of age.

The school is situated in twenty acres of open countryside and draws the vast majority of pupils from the nearby villages of Markfield, Thornton and Stanton-under-Bardon, as well as from  Leicester Forest East, mostly Stafford Leys School.  South Charnwood could justifiably be called a “family” school since it has educated several generations of many local families.  The school also welcomes a number of pupils from other areas, which we feel is evidence of our good reputation and the high esteem in which the school is held.

Learning for all is planned to be challenging and enjoyable and the school aims to ensure that pupils achieve the highest possible standard in all subjects.  Pupils are also given many opportunities to develop a wide range of skills, insights and interests, to equip them fully for the next stage in their education. Our most recent Ofsted inspection took place in June 2019 and judged the school to be 'Good' whilst recognising that the quality of Teaching and Learning and Assessment and Outcomes for pupils were both 'Outstanding'

The admission number for 2023/24 is 174. For information on how to apply for a school place, please go to the School Admissions page on the Leicestershire County Council website. The admission process for entry into the school in September 2024 starts on 1st September 2023 and closes on the 31st October 2023.
