Computing, Creative iMedia & Computer Science

We aim to prepare our learners for their future by giving them the opportunities to gain knowledge and develop skills that will equip them for an ever changing digital world.

Knowledge and understanding of ICT is of increasing importance for pupil’s future both at home and for future employment. Our Computing curriculum focuses on a progression of skills in digital literacy, computer science, information technology and online safety to ensure that pupil’s become competent in safely using, as well as understanding, technology. These strands are revisited repeatedly through a range of themes during pupil’s time in school to ensure the learning is embedded and skills are successfully developed. Our intention is that Computing also supports pupil’s creativity and cross curricular learning to engage children and enrich their experiences in school.

KS3 COMPUTING

The aim is that all children become confident and independent users of technology that will support them in future education and employment. It is also our aim to make the learning experience enjoyable and engaging so that pupil’s look forward to their lessons in the computing suite.

KS4

Pupils have the opportunity to study Computer Science (AQA) or take Creative iMedia (OCR), as well as applying their knowledge and skills across the whole school.

KS3 Computing Curriculum Overview

COMPUTER SCIENCE

Computer Science is the study of computers and computing concepts. It includes both hardware and software, networking, algorithms, programming (in Python), and the legal and ethical challenges that face modern technology. Computer Science prepares the computer scientists of tomorrow by providing them with the computational thinking skills and theoretical knowledge required to enter this diverse and crucial domain.
