Strasbourg Trip

Year 10 and year 11 students enjoyed visiting Strasbourg for their French GCSE school trip this month. It was particularly rewarding to take these pupils seeing as they missed out on a year 7 trip to France due to COVID restrictions.

After a day of travelling by coach and ferry out to Strasbourg, the pupils enjoyed their visits to a gingerbread factory, the Christmas markets, the European Parliament and Europa Park, Europe’s biggest theme park. In addition, they also took part in a boat trip around Strasbourg. The highlight for some was definitely their meal in Flunch(!) which was mentioned repeatedly throughout the rest of the visit.

It was lovely to see the pupils out of their comfort zone, speaking French to staff and passers by. Their behaviour throughout the trip was exemplary and their care for their environment, particularly the hostel and the coach, was to be proud of. Foreign coach drivers coming to talk to our drivers were amazed when they said they had a school group on board, which is testament to our pupils’ conduct. They were true ambassadors for our school and our country.

A massive well done to our Linguists and Ambassadors of the Day, who each received a hand-designed certificate.

The next edition of the trip is expected to take place next Christmas, opening in the new year to current year 9s who intend to choose French for their GCSEs.

A massive thanks to Mr Liptrot, Mrs Lett, Mrs Young and Mr May for helping Mr Walker run the trip successfully.
