Chitty Chitty Bang Bang

This year South Charnwood High School was proud to present ‘Chitty Chitty Bang Bang’ as our annual school production and what a flying success it was! With a cast of just under 40 dedicated students, we transported our audiences to the borders of Vulgaria to witness the magnificent defeat of the Baron and Baroness.

This year, many students raised the bar through their creation of comedic moments and even took on leading roles in choreography. I feel incredibly privileged to lead such a talented group of students who are keen to be so involved in the production as a whole. It was a joy to watch the cast grow in confidence and demonstrate their skills and abilities whilst also enhancing and developing the skills of those around them. It is a true joy to be able to work in an environment filled with such enthusiasm and excitement. The collaboration between the students was truly spectacular and the credit for the large scale performance numbers is all down to them.

Of course the wonders and magic of the show could not have been achieved without the fantastic work by Mr Haughan and Mr Timms who built our wonderful Chitty car along with the brilliant, moving, music box. The cast and staff are incredibly grateful for the time, effort and skill put into these creations.

I would also like to thank the many staff members who were involved in the production as a whole. I am exceptionally grateful for the many hours dedicated to the rehearsals; the creation of costumes; acquisitions of props; along with the design of the set and backgrounds.

The success of this production is all down to the dedication of the students, wonderful staff behind the scenes and those of you at home who have supported us every step of the way. The cast delivered a performance that was Truly Scrumptious and I cannot thank you all enough. We very much look forward to what 2027 will bring, but for now we look forward to the well-earned rest that the half term will bring.

Mrs Gregory.
