Monday 2 February 2026 Cross Country January 2026 On Saturday 30th January, 7 South Charnwood pupils attended the Leicestershire Cross Country race at Ratcliffe College & raced in some tough conditions. They did amazingly well, working hard for the entire race and representing the school perfectly.

Tuesday 27 January 2026 KS4 Girls Football Our KS4 girls' footballers were in action in the last 32 of the National Cup competition against John Ferneley College. On a blustery day, the girls were more than ready for the challenge on an excellent football surface.

Thursday 22 January 2026 WILL S. DANCING EXAM SUCCESS Will S, year 8, has been working hard in his ballroom and Latin dancing exams.

Tuesday 20 January 2026 National Year of Reading We are delighted to be joining in with activities for the National Year of Reading 2026. The campaign, organised by the National Literacy Trust and backed by the Department for Education, launched at the Emirates Stadium last week. Its focus is to reverse the worrying decline in levels of reading for pleasure amongst children and teenagers.

Friday 19 December 2025 PVT Christmas cards for LOROS On Friday 28th November, eight Pupil Voice members came together to create handmade Christmas cards for the patients and staff at LOROS Hospice. The service that LOROS provides to families is truly outstanding, and being able to offer a little Christmas cheer in return is heart-warming. Our Students felt honoured and privileged to contribute something so thoughtful and meaningful to the community.

Friday 19 December 2025 Reverse Advent 2025 The response to our Reverse Advent initiative has once again been overwhelming. The majority of the donations were given to Elohim Church Foodbank who provide support for families in our local area who are enduring hardship. This year a proportion of the food was also donated to the Salvation Army to help with their Christmas appeal. A huge thank you to everyone who donated items.

Tuesday 2 December 2025 REVERSE ADVENT 2025 - GIVING BACK THIS CHRISTMAS This year we are carrying on the South Charnwood annual tradition of turning advent on its head! Instead of receiving a treat each day, we'll be giving one. Together, we'll collect daily donations to support a local charity that helps families struggling to afford food at Christmas.Each day, pupils are invited to bring in the item listed and hand it to their form tutor. All contributions will be passed on to Mr Stephenson, who will deliver them to the charity. Wednesday 12 November 2025 Remembrance Service 2025 On Remembrance Day, South Charnwood High School gathered together in a solemn and respectful service to honour those who gave their lives in conflict. Pupils and staff joined in quiet reflection, remembering the fallen from Markfield and the surrounding area.The atmosphere was one of dignity and reverence. Poppy tributes were carefully laid as a symbol of gratitude and remembrance, while Mr Reason performed The Last Post, a poignant moment that brought the school community together in silence.Despite the November chill, the weather remained dry, allowing the service to take place outdoors without interruption. Pupils stood with composure and respect, embodying the values of remembrance and reflection.The service was a powerful reminder of the importance of remembering those who sacrificed so much, and it highlighted the strength of community spirit within the school.

Friday 7 November 2025 Girls Football Our KS4 Girls Football Team were in national cup action against Thomas Alleyne's High School. It was a fiercely competitive game, with the opening goal coming from Ruby, after a superb cross from Ella.

Monday 6 October 2025 European Day of Languages As part of our celebration of European Day of Languages, we ran our very popular languages film night. Pupils watched the French film A Cat in Paris during an afternoon complete with popcorn and fizzy drinks. The behaviour of the pupils was exemplary and the general consensus was that they found the film funny and enjoyable!

Monday 6 October 2025 Sophie M Year 7 Sophie M recently took part in the East Coast Dance Championship in Cleethorpes. On the second day of the competition she qualified for the finals in both her ballet and tap solos. Sophie went on to win second place in both categories for the 11–13 age group. She also received the Supreme Championship Award as the highest scorer of the day.

Thursday 10 July 2025 Year 7 French Trip At the end of June, 53 Year 7 pupils and 6 members of staff spent 5 days in Rue, France. We stayed at the beautiful château du Broutel and had a jam-packed itinerary.

Wednesday 9 July 2025 Lola, Dancing Queen Lola, year 8, recently competed in the worlds freestyle championships in Blackpool Winter Gardens. She competed in the u14 champion section against 56 champions from all over the world. Lola is double finalist in slow dance & freestyle dance gaining a grade point in slow dance.

Wednesday 9 July 2025 Across The Line Callum, year 8 and his sister Neave, year 11, were both lucky enough to perform in a west end show on Sunday 29th June. Across the Line was held at His Majesty's Theatre, London and the performance was put on by the Pauline Quirke Academy. While Neave was part of the ensemble, Callum played the part of Bek and sang/spoke solo lines. The show was about different lands being divided and at gang war but then breaking down barriers, biased views and prejudice towards differences and becoming one and stronger together.

Friday 27 June 2025 Sponsored Walk 2025 What a wonderful day we had for our annual sponsored walk. The sun was shining brightly, creating perfect conditions for all our pupils as they completed the route. A huge "well done" to absolutely everyone who took part. your energy and effort were incredible!

Friday 23 May 2025 Joel – World Leader Linguist in the Making! One of our fantastic Year 11 linguists used our online product "This is School" over the Easter holidays so much that he made it to Second Position on the Worldwide Leader Board! This is the email we received about his achievement: “Huge congratulations! I'm delighted to share that your student Joel M has achieved second place in our Global Student Leader board! Our leader boards take all This is School classes and students from all subjects around the world into account, so it really is an amazing achievement for Joel to be celebrated!”
