The boys remained in good spirits for our second match and put on their best performance of the season so far against Brookvale Groby. Despite their best efforts the boys went down by 3 goals to 0 but as always their determination and effort was a credit to the school. Well done to all those who took part. Monday 2 October 2023 Dyslexia Awareness Week South Charnwood supported Dyslexia Awareness week launched by the British Dyslexia Association, 2nd to 8th October. This year's theme was "Celebrate being uniquely you". Students received an assembly highlighting the prevalence of dyslexia as well as a summary of the difficulties dyslexic people face. We also looked at some of the large number of famous people with dyslexia who have had great success in their industry. Some of our students with dyslexia felt confident enough to share their experiences with their classmates. We shared quotes from famous people with dyslexia, our favourite being: "There are different types of intelligence and everyone has the ability to be brilliant” - Jamie Oliver.

Sunday 24 September 2023 Good Going Gabe! On 24th September Gabe Paling from year 8 took on the 40th anniversary Weston Beach Race. Unfortunately, on the 1st lap, he got trapped under his bike for a few minutes and sustained some injuries. However, being a real trouper, he carried on. 1 hour 7 minutes in, his bike broke so it was game over. We are very proud of him for attempting the race as it’s no mean feat but on this occasion the beach won. Fingers crossed next year will be a different story.
