ICELAND 2026
Thirty Year 11 GCSE Geography pupils spent 5 days exploring the southern part of Iceland just before February half term. Some highlights included visiting several incredible waterfalls such as Gulfoss, the bubbling hot water area of Geysir with the highly active Strokkur Geyser which erupts 20-30m in the air every 10-15 minutes, the black sandy beach at Reynisfjara, walking on a glacier with the aid of ice picks and crampons, a dip in the geothermal spa at the Blue Lagoon, as well as a walking tour of Reykjavík. However, the biggest & best highlight was seeing the Northern Lights each evening which was awe inspiring.
The pupils were a real credit to themselves and represented the school impeccably. Well done to all and thank you to Mrs Ames & Mrs Tipper who helped Mr Andrews with the visit. Thank you also to Mr Holmes for organising the trip.
Here are a few photos which give you a flavour of the experience which the pupils will never forget…
