Japan Club

During this half term, students from all year groups were invited to join Japan club (日本サークル), run by Miss Budd who is with SCHS during her initial teacher training, and has a degree in Japanese. Students who participated were able to learn about Japanese language and culture, such as discussing anime, listening to Japanese music, doing quizzes on Japanese culture and looking at images from Japan including food, attractions and events. They even wished happy birthday to one of the pupils in Japanese!

They finished off the club sessions with a mini Japanese festival (祭り), where students made origami, looked at Japanese textbooks, a yukata (浴衣 – summer kimono) from Japan and played some traditional Japanese games such as Kendama (けん玉), as well as showing off their chopstick skills in a chopstick challenge.
