Strasbourg Trip 2025
Year 10 and year 11 pupils got into the Christmas spirit during their residential trip to Strasbourg earlier this month, whilst also practising their French in readiness for their GCSEs.
After a day of travelling by coach and ferry out to Strasbourg, the pupils enjoyed their visits to a gingerbread factory, the Christmas markets, the European Parliament and Europa Park, Europe’s biggest theme park. In addition, they also took part in a boat trip around Strasbourg. A particular highlight of the trip was the gingerbread decoration; there were clearly a lot of Shrek fans on the trip as all we could hear was, “Not the gumdrop buttons!”
The pupils behaved exceptionally well throughout the trip and we were very proud that coach drivers, passers-by and ferry staff would complement us on the good behaviour and tidiness of the group. They were true ambassadors for our school and our country. Many pupils pushed themselves out of their comfort zone to practise their French (and even some German when required!) with market stall holders and staff at the different attractions. It seems like a lot of pupils may have started a new German Duolingo streak that will enthuse them for a long time!
A massive well done to our linguists and ambassadors of the day, who starred in their use of French during the trip, or exemplified the school’s 3Ps values, particularly positivity and preparedness. Their reward was truly to be treasured: first choice of seat on the coach!
As we look forward to future years, watch this space as we look to not only offer the Strasbourg trip again, but also launch a Spanish trip for those who are considering taking Spanish GCSE from the current year 9.
A massive thanks to Mrs Harper, Mr Hyslop, Mrs Lett, Mr Wilkins and Mr Walker for running such a fantastic trip.
