Year 7 French Trip
At the end of June, 53 Year 7 pupils and 6 members of staff spent 5 days in Rue, France. We stayed at the beautiful château du Broutel and had a jam-packed itinerary.
On Monday, pupils settled into their accommodation, then competed in some team games in the glorious grounds of the château.
Tuesday was our History day. Pupils visited the Albert WW1 underground museum, Thiepval (the memorial for the missing of the Somme) and the Beaumont-Hamal Newfoundland Memorial.
Wednesday consisted of our trip to the market in Berck, where pupils were set a task to buy as many different fruits as possible. It was fantastic to see pupils practicing their French in a real-life situation. In the afternoon, we had our guided tour of Rue, and finished the day with a scavenger hunt.
Disneyland was our one and only activity on Thursday. Pupils spent the day enjoying the parades, shops and rides, such as Indiana Jones and the Temple of Peril and Star Wars Hyperspace Mountain. The bus journey home was full of lightsabers, Minnie ears and Darth Vader masks!
For tea, some pupils were brave enough to try snails and frogs’ legs.
Friday was departure day, but we still managed to fit in a visit to the chocolate factory where pupils learnt how chocolate is made and were able to taste it during the various stages of production. All pupils had a wonderful time and were a credit to the school.
Many thanks to Mrs Wilkinson for organising the trip and to Mrs Estill, Mrs Lett, Mr Reason, Mr Walker and Miss Woolnough for their help, support and enthusiasm.
