KS4 Girls Football

Our KS4 girls’ footballers were in action in the last 32 of the National Cup competition against John Ferneley College. On a blustery day, the girls were more than ready for the challenge on an excellent football surface.

South Charnwood took an early lead when Ruby calmly placed her shot into the net. What followed was a tightly contested game, with our girls playing some excellent passing football throughout. The opposition created one or two chances in the first half but struggled to truly test Flo in goal.

The second half began much like the first ended, with South Charnwood enjoying plenty of possession but initially lacking a clear threat on goal. Midway through the half, Ruby once again found space inside the box and slotted the ball neatly into the bottom corner to double the lead. Just three minutes later, she completed a superb hat-trick with a well-worked team goal.

The flurry of goals continued when Chido found herself on the left-hand side with space to exploit. From 25 yards out, she showed great composure to lob the goalkeeper and score South Charnwood’s fourth goal of the game.

The match finished 4–0 to South Charnwood, a fantastic achievement as the girls reach the last 16 of the National Cup for the second year running. They are now rewarded with a trip south to Bedford to face Samuel Whitbread Academy, where they will be hoping to go one step further and continue this amazing journey.
